My Birthday and Balloons on the Beach

First of all, it was my birthday yesterday! (yes, on Thanksgiving :p)  I turned 18, and I went gambling at an Indian casino and got a tattoo! It was really exciting and so much fun :)

So anyway, back to the dreams.  A while ago I had this dream where I was sitting on a beach with my mom and a little girl’s mom.  The little girl was playing in the ocean, and she ran up to me and gave me a balloon.  It was really windy and I was afraid I was going to blow away.  Just to mess around, I stood up and the wind almost lifted me off the ground but I sat back down really quickly.

To analyze this dream, I went to a website called Dream Analyzer.  It said that dreaming of relaxing at a beach means that the next few weeks will be calm and relaxing and I will be relieved of stress.  A balloon represents aspiring to achieve a goal.  A young girl in a dream shows how I acted at that age.

I would say this interpretation is fairly accurate.  The next few weeks after this dream were calm (beach), because I had turned in two essays and got to enjoy my birthday :)  In college I’m working towards a general goal of getting straight A’s and graduating college eventually (balloon).  And the little girl in the dream was playing in the water care-free and having fun on the beach, like I would have done at that age.

The Case of the Missing Car

In this dream, I was at an amusement park at first.  Then for some reason I got scared, so I left and drove my mom’s car down the street into a bad part of town.  Suddenly I realized that I can’t drive and I pulled down an alley and up against a garage.  I quickly walked down the alley back onto the street with the intention of going back to the amusement park to find my mom.  I was completely lost so I went back to the car, but it was gone.  The door to the building was open though, and there were some kids inside.  A young boy told me that the car was taken in to be sent across the sea to be repaired illegally for free.  I was freaking out because that was my mom’s car and then I woke up.

For this interpretation, I went to a website called Dream Dictionary For Free.  It says that driving in a dream indicates that I am in control of my life.  Dreaming of an amusement park means that I am care-free and fun-loving.  Unknown children in my dream symbolize my inner child and suggest that I want to have fun and not deal with responsibilities for a while.

That was a pretty strange dream, but overall I find the interpretation accurate.  I am care-free and fun-loving, and in college I’ve had everything under control, even more so than I did in high school.  And since thanksgiving break is coming up, I can forget schoolwork for a while and have fun, especially since my birthday is on Thanksgiving! :D

Engaged to a Spy

This was definitely an odd dream.  From what I remember, I was Tom Cruise’s girlfriend (I have no idea why I would dream that o.o) and he was a spy.  We were living together, and I thought he was going to propose to me because I found a wedding ring.  But actually, he broke up with me.  As Tom was packing up his things to leave, a few men in suits came to the door and I knew they were the bad guys who actually wanted to kill him.  They pretended to be casual and one of them said “so I heard you two are getting married?”  I noticed Tom trying to escape out the back door, so I pretended to be really excited and invited them in to see the wedding ring so Tom could get away.  I told the men I couldn’t find the ring, and Tom wasn’t home and then I woke up.

To analyze this dream, I went to a website called Dream Lover Inc.  Marriage in a dream is a symbol of commitment but can also symbolize self-awareness.  An actor in a dream represents a role I play in life.  The ring indicates promises and commitments.

So this means I am secretly a spy in real life.  Just kidding :p  I’ll interpret this as that I’m good at keeping secrets and promises (actor, spy/ring).  Something random I thought was cool about this particular website is that it gives you dream interpretations of Greek mythological gods and goddesses if you happen to dream about that.  So far I haven’t seen any other dream websites with that.

Okay, I couldn't resist xD  I found this picture online and put my head on her body

Dancing with my Grandad

This was a fairly short dream, but it meant a lot to me. It was night time and I walked up to a house and knocked on the door. My Nana answered the door and invited me to come inside. There was a number of elderly people inside the house sitting on the couch, and my Grandad was standing in the middle of the room. As soon as I came in, he invited me to dance with him and we danced in the middle of the room. This dream means a lot to me because I had it fairly recently, and my Grandad passed away something short of a year ago.

To analyze this dream, I went to a website called Hyper Dictionary that has five different types of dictionaries and a thesaurus. Seeing grandparents in a dream indicates love, security, wisdom, and protection. A house in a dream represents myself. Dancing in a dream indicates freedom and happiness.

Maybe I can interpret this that my Grandad is looking over me and protecting me so I can be free and happy.

Escaping

In this dream, I was at a restaurant with about six of my friends. I've been to this nonexistant place before in my dreams; the restaurant is upstairs and the ground floor is like a casino. At first, we were laughing and having fun, but then they all got up and left, promising to come back after doing something. After sitting there alone for a while, I started to get uneasy. Looking around, there was just something creepy about the other people in the restaurant. As I became more afriad, they started staring at me and becoming hostile. They looked on the verge of attacking me when this boy I've never seen before came into the restaurant and led me outisde to help me escape. We ran outside onto a balcony, and I woke up.

To analyze this dream, I went to a website called Dreams Dictionary. The first thing I looked up was restaurant. Being at a restaurant in a dream symbolizes the digestive system. Dreaming that I am being abandoned suggests that I will have trouble forming a future plan. Escaping something in a dream signifies that I will rise up in business later on in life.

The restaurant symbolizing the digestive system was pretty random considering that most of these definitions have to do with the future. Since I had this dream really recently, I can't say for sure if this interpretation means anything, but we'll see :)

Cornflake Eating Competition

I was a man again in this dream (that’s starting to worry me a little).  A bunch of people and I were standing in a Japanese style room around a gigantic bowl of cornflakes.  We were all competing in a cornflake eating competition.  For some reason, I was trying to impress the girl next to me.  Then this serious Japanese man who was monitoring everyone walked by me and scolded me, telling me to stop trying to impress her and that’s not how he trained me.  So I got serious and started eating my cornflakes.  In the end, there was just me and an older man left, and I won.  I was oddly proud of myself, and then I woke up.
To interpret this dream, I went to a website called My Dream Dictionary.  Dreaming of cereal indicates that I am starting a new project or a new stage in life.  It can also simply mean I was hungry in my sleep, but I don’t usually eat cereal for breakfast.  To dream that I am a man represents me welcoming a stronger side of my personality.  Also, to see an older man in a dream indicates wisdom.
I think this interpretation is fairly accurate.  The last two things, wisdom and a stronger side of my personality, could really mean anything.  As I’m getting older, I believe that my experiences have made me stronger and wiser.  As for a new project, I had this dream very recently right before beginning an art project where I had to make a film at Venice Beach.

Elvis vs the Russians

For today’s blog I’m going to do something a little different.  I’m going to analyze a dream one of my professors had because this was just too good to pass up.  He briefly mentioned in class one day that he had a dream once that he was in a parallel universe.  He was Elvis and also a member of the CIA.  His mission: to save Disneyland from the Russians.  That is hilarious.

To interpret this dream, I went to a website created by a man named Tony Crisp who analyzes dreams.  Dreaming that you are a celebrity indicates that you desire to be noticed.  Being attacked in a dream means that you may be in conflict with your emotions.  Lastly, dreaming of amusement parks can represent courage to explore the unknown or dangerous things behind a situation that seems colorful and happy on the outside.

I think this is an interesting insight to my professor.  It would’ve been cool to know more details about his dream just to see what happened and because I’m fascinated with dreams.  I also wonder if this interpretation has an accuracy.

Concert in the Kitchen

In this dream, I went over to my grandma’s house and there were tons and tons of people in her house.  I recognized many of my friends there, and it seemed like a party was going on.  I was talking to some of my friends when everyone slowly started going into the kitchen.  We followed everyone else, but my mom called me and I stopped.  I sat down on the couch because I couldn’t hear her and my friends went on without me.  Eventually, I hung up and went to find my friends.  I entered the kitchen, and it was not the kitchen at all.  It was like the House of Blues in the middle of my grandma’s house and there was a concert going on.  I sent a text to one of my friend’s asking where she was, but I got no reply.  When I started to get worried she came up behind me, and then I woke up.

To interpret this dream, I found a website called MiMi.hu.  The website offers more than just a dream dictionary, and also has many definitions for certain dream symbols.  This website says that houses represent the dreamer, and the kitchen of a house represents the heart of a dreamer.  There were many interpretations of dreaming of a concert, but the main idea was that it foretells happiness in the future.

I would have to say this interpretation is pretty accurate.  Music is a huge part of my life.  I absolutely love going to concerts; experiencing live music and watching the bands on stage is amazing.  So it makes sense that concerts would be in my heart (kitchen).  As for the future, I had this dream quite a while ago and I am very happy (concerts).

Train Ride of Doom

I had this weird dream once.  I went to Target, but once inside it wasn’t Target at all; it was like a separate little world and whoever entered couldn’t get back outside.  The place had an unfair dictator who was a woman with red hair.  Eventually I ran into my friends, and they told me they had been picked to take a special train ride.  Somehow I got wind of the fact that they were to be killed at the end of this train ride.  I tried to warn them, but they thought I was just jealous that I didn’t get picked.  I accidentally got on the train ride with them, and I was panicking.  Me and one of my friends jumped off the train and hid, and one of my friends stayed behind.  We came across a house, and I could see the people who lived there but she couldn’t.  A young boy ran up to us exclaiming that we were celebrities and then I woke up.

For this dream, I found a website that tells the hidden meaning of your dreams, and what it means psychologically and mystically.  Psychologically, dreaming of trains means your future is on track.  Mystically, it indicates a change in fortune.  Psychologically, being famous in a dream means someone admires you.  Mystically, it suggests you are trying to grasp something out of your reach.

I thought it was interesting how this website gave a psychological and mystical definition of dreams.  I also found it fascinating that the two definitions are so different from each other.

Animation

I had this dream during my senior year of high school.  In my dream, it was 5th period in my animation class and I was talking to my best friend Paige on the phone.  She said something weird about my animation teacher, Mr. Austin, that surprised me.  Meanwhile, my friend Karli and I were sticking giant post-it notes around the classroom and I wrote what Paige said on one of them.  Mr. Austin was going around taking them down and he got upset about what Paige said, so I stayed after class to help him clean up.  For some reason the room was filled with Lego sculptures and pillars that I had remembered building.  Then I punched a wall and one of the Lego pillars collapsed.  I left and went to 6th period where we watched a Harry Potter movie that doesn’t exist, but in the dream I remembered reading the book for the non-existent movie.  Then I woke up.

For this dream, I went to the dream dictionary on a website called DreamForth.  It says to see toys in a dream, like the Lego’s, represents my inner child.  Dreaming of a classroom means that I will experience an event that will have a major influence on my future decisions.  To dream of watching a movie suggests that I’m taking life easy.

Although this interpretation talks about the future, I can analyze it’s predictions since I had the dream long enough ago.  Well, I had fairly easy classes my senior year (movie).  Also, I went to Momentum, a week long church retreat in Ohio, with my church over the summer, and it was a life changing experience that has probably influenced my decisions (classroom).

Endless Hallway

A few nights ago, I had a fairly creepy dream.  In the dream, I believe I had just finished watching a horror movie, because I was a little bit jumpy.  My house even looked creepy.  I went into my room to go to bed, but there was some type of scary monster in there (which I don’t remember) and I ran back into the living room.  Then, I opened the door to my parents bedroom and it was completely empty apart from the bed.  I knew there was something wrong with that scene so I slammed the door shut.  I ran into the kitchen and my mom was there.  I told her I was scared because I was hallucinating, but she told me that was perfectly normal.  I was confused and went to my parents bedroom to go to sleep, and everything was normal, including my dad sleeping in there.  I turned to look down the hallway and it went on forever.  I looked into each door and they were all my parents’ bedroom, with different horror movie-like scenes going on inside them.

To analyze this dream, I went to a dream forum on DreamCrowd and posted my dream.  A dark, creepy room symbolizes feeling trapped or repressed.  Feeling fear about something indicates temporary worries.  Dreaming that your hallucinating is your unconscious telling you to be more alert and express yourself clearly.  Walking through a hallway means that you are trapped in a situation.

Well, personally I think this analysis is pretty inaccurate.  I really don’t feel that way at all.  I can’t even stretch it to try to find some abstract thing in my life that makes me feel trapped or worried.

Here’s the link to my post on the dream forum: http://www.dreamcrowd.com/dream/59719/My_House_was_a_Horror_Movie

I also pulled a picture off the internet of an endless hallway and put a cool midnight effect on it :p

Orange Extra Credit?

This past Saturday, I spent the night at my best friend Jean’s house and had the weirdest dream.  Jean and I were staying at some sort of hotel.  Jean told me that her boyfriend Timmy had to film a water gun commercial for extra credit for my English class, and that he was downstairs in the pool.  So I went down to the pool to help him.  He was in the pool wearing orange swim trunks, and along the edge of the pool was an orange camera and an orange plastic flute from the Dollar Tree.  Apparently the plastic flute was supposed to be the water gun.  I told him he should do his homework first and then I’d help him.  I went back up to the hotel room but I fell asleep.  The next morning I was asleep at Jean’s house but I could hear the Sunday morning hubbub going on around me (this is still part of the dream).  Timmy was in a suit, and Jean was telling him that I had fallen asleep.  Jean’s mom was saying that the cookies she baked for church had a white center because she forgot to put the cookie flavor there when she baked them.  Then I heard Jean tell her mom that I couldn’t go to church with them because I was asleep.  I really wanted to go to church, so I actually woke up.

Since this dream had to do with church, I decided to do something a little different and go to a Christian dream analyzer.  Since the color orange seemed prominent in this dream, I looked that up first.  It symbolizes courage, endurance, and strength.  Dreaming of staying at a hotel foresees ease and profit.  Seeing friends in a dream means pleasant things for their future, or that I may see them soon.  Lastly, dreaming of sleeping implies favor for those I love.

I was actually really surprised that the Christian dream analyzer interpreted dreams in relation to the future, although that kind of makes sense.  Since these are in the future, I don’t know how accurate they are, except that I saw both Jean and Timmy at church on Sunday (friends).

Virtual Reality Video Game

A few weeks ago I had this crazy awesome dream.  From what I remember, I was standing in front of  three passageways, a door with a tunnel to either side.  I appeared to be in a cave of sorts.  My mission was to reach the top of the cave, and to do that I had to get past each floor.  I entered the door and found myself in a hallway.  I could hear two men talking about something bad that involved them making money.  I tried to sneak by them, but they heard me and came out of a room, armed.  As I began to run, a boy seemed to come out of no where and defeated the two goons.  Together, we completed the next few levels until we reached the top.  We came out of the ground and there was nothing but a small house.  It was incredibly windy, and some sort of tornado was coming so we hid behind the house.  When it hit the house, he shielded me from the wind storm.  I was safe, but the only thing stopping him from getting sucked into the storm was a rickety old fence that was slowly ripping from the ground.  I cried out and reached for him.  Just as I was about to grab him, I was in a room with countless wires and IV’s connected to me as if I were an experiment.  There was a swarm of people in lab coats around me, monitoring me, and one of them was taking a helmet off my head.  I was panicking because I wondered where the boy was and if he was okay.  And then I woke up.

For this dream I used another website where you can type in your dream and it analyzes it for you.  Dreaming of being in a video game means you are in a situation that’s one challenge after another.  Tornados represent a large challenge.  A broken fence suggests a challenge being gone.  Lastly, an experiment or lab indicates curiosity and a desire for knowledge.

The way I am going to interpret this interpretation is that college is constantly challenging me (video game).  The biggest thing that has been coming up was my philosophy midterm (tornado), and I had just finished the rough draft of my English essay (broken fence), and I think I did really good on it.  In general, I’m a very curious person and I love to learn (experiment/lab).  That’s definitely not what I would have expected from that dream.

Aaah Spiders!

So for about three or four nights straight last week I had nightmares about spiders.  I also happen to be arachnophobic, so that wasn’t fun.  The dreams weren’t exceptionally specific, I remember two of them pretty well.  In one of them I had two spiders caught in my hair, one was quite bigger than the other, and I freaked out and had my best friend get out the bigger one first, and I woke up before panicking about the smaller one.  In the other, I was sitting on my bed and there were spiders all over my room.  For some reason, I stared at one by my bed, and that was the only one I could really remember.  That wasn’t fun to wake up from in the middle of the night!

For this dream, I used a dream dictionary on a website called Paranormality (I clicked on it because I thought the name of the website was cool).  As the name of the website suggests, it focuses on more than just dreams so it might be cool to go check out.  This website is different from the others I’ve been to; it shows how your dreams have the ability to predict the future.  It says dreaming of many spiders hanging around me means my future holds favorable conditions, fortune, good health, and friends.  Also, dreaming specifically of a large spider and a small spider together foretell that I will be prosperous and feel immensely successful for a period of time.  I guess only time will tell how accurate this website is.

Although, here’s an interesting fact: The day after I had these nightmares, I was laying on my bed and a huge house spider came crawling past me.  Being arachnophobic and all, I ran from my room. Then I decided it would be better to find the spider and kill it rather than have it roaming around my room at night, but I had no idea where it went.  I ended up finding it in the exact same spot the spider was in my dream by my bed. Interesting :p

Here’s the link: http://www.paranormality.com/dream_dictionary.shtml

And I tortured myself by looking for a picture of a house spider >.<

A Sadistic Little Boy

I originally wrote this dream down because I thought it would be really cool to turn it into a short film or something.  It reminds me of something you’d see on the Twilight Zone.  First, I was a man (again).  I was in an ice cream parlor getting ice cream for my son.  I paid for the ice cream and balanced both bowls precariously in my arms.  Just as I was turning to leave the counter, a man dressed in black stabbed me and ran off with a black briefcase I had been carrying.  I tried to get up, because apparently that briefcase was really important to me, but I couldn’t and I died.  As soon as I died, I was a woman walking my two-year-old son in a stroller to the park.  I got shot three times in the back, and also died.  Then I was the little boy in the stroller.  I heard three gun shots, and I got out of my stroller and ran.  We had been crossing a bridge, and I ran to the edge of the bridge.  I wasn’t afraid at all.  I leaned over the railing of the bridge, and I kept leaning further and further until I was just about to fall… Then, it was like a camera zooming out of the town.  The town turned into a play set, and the same little boy was just playing with dolls.  He made the little doll of himself fall off the bridge.  (The little dolls looked really creepy, too)  Then, his mom called his name, George, and he ran out of his room.  Then I woke up.

I found a website called the “Meaning of Dreams” for this dream.  Death in dreams symbolizes closure, transformation, and leaving worries behind.  Food can mean pleasure.  Having blood in a dream means “the worst is over.”  Violence toward a doll suggests that I am no longer being dominated by a person, and that I’m in control.  A stone bridge signifies strong willpower and rising above emotional difficulties.

I had this dream around the time me and my ex broke up (blood).  Emotionally, I stayed strong (stone bridge).  He was somewhat dominating and very controlling (violence toward dolls).  It wasn’t a very happy relationship, so it wasn’t the end of the world to me and I was a lot happier (death/food).

Buried Alive

For survival training in Girl Scouts our challenge was to be buried alive.  We had to live in a coffin for some amount of time and we’d be given just enough food and water to get by; so we couldn’t waste it.  I had my food in a zip lock bag and a single bottle of water.  I was in what appeared to be a graveyard, the scenery perfectly horrifying.  The trees were dead (I love dead trees), the remnants of their leaves scattered around the dying grass as the wind blew violently.  Everything was tinted blue in the dark of the night. I was talking to Amanda and told her I was scared.  It was my turn.  I climbed into the coffin, made myself comfortable.  The coffin was made of a dark colored wood and the interior silk was a brilliant blue.  I curled up into it, welcoming its warmth which seemed equivalent to that of a sleeping bag.  A woman closed the coffin door with some parting words and a good luck.  Once the darkness closed in on me, I began to panic and bang on the roof just inches from my face.  How am I supposed to breathe if I’m buried alive?

I used a different book this time, called 20,000 Dreams by Mary Summer Rain.  To begin with, I’ll look up the main part of this dream, being buried alive.  Fear of being buried alive means fear that a pending plan will not have a chance to prove itself.  Dreaming of coffins represents loneliness and a sense of hopelessness; or that you’re unable to rise above problems that are trying to bury you.  Wind suggests unsettled emotions or indecisiveness.  The color blue seemed to be a really big part of this dream, which indicates readiness to liberate yourself from repressed feelings.

Again, when I had this dream I was having problems with the same ex boyfriend.  At the time, when we would make plans he had a bad habit of not showing up or making up an excuse that he couldn’t make it (buried alive).  I probably felt a little lonely, unsure of his true intentions, and feared this relationship wasn’t working (coffin/wind).  I also really wanted to talk to him about it because of the way it was making me feel (blue).

Here's an awesomely creepy picture I made; it looks almost exactly like it did in my dream.

On the Run from the FBI

My mom and I were cleaning the living room, when there came a knock on the door.  It was two police officers, a man and a woman, who asked to interview us outside.  While I was being interviewed by the male police officer, I saw a bomb.  I panicked and crawled on top of the car, which somehow shielded me from the explosion.  My mom told me we had to hide, so we got in the car and took off.  The FBI was chasing us, and we decided it would be smart to ditch the car and run (which is not smart at all).  They were shooting at us, so we hid in an abandoned liquor store.  A little bit later, a woman in a suit came in and told us we would be safe if we went with her.  We decided to trust her, and she took us to her mansion.  She talked to us by a large lake near her house.  She told us we were safe “for now” because we had to appear in court, but after that we’d be on the run again.  My mom and I left, and my mom took me to a car dealership to buy me a car.  I backed it out of the parking space and accidentally backed into another car.  Both cars completely fell apart on the soft impact.  Random people helped me and the other driver out of our cars, but suddenly a multitude of police officers surrounded me.  I was afraid they weren’t going to give me medical attention and let me die, and then I woke up.

To analyze this dream, I went to a website called “the Curious Dreamer.”  I thought it was cute because it’s Alice in Wonderland themed.  This website has a dream analyzer, where you can type in your entire dream, and it will pick out all the dream symbols in the dream and analyze it for you.  Dreaming about getting caught by the police symbolizes being falsely accused of something.  Mom just means mom (how creative).  A bomb indicates feeling defenseless against authority.  A woman I don’t know in a dream can represent a problem involving a real person that I do know.  Lastly, a car accident suggests something happening that’s outside my control.

What I find really interesting is that after analyzing this dream, it almost seems like it predicted the future.  The day after I had this dream, I went to the US Open in Huntington Beach to see Cobra Starship and Weezer.  My mom was going to drive me and my friends Jean and Michelle there (mom).  While I was on my way to Jean’s house, she called me and told me her grandma said she couldn’t go (woman I don’t know/car accident).  I really wanted her to come, but there was nothing I could do (bomb).  The only interpretation that doesn’t really fit is being falsely accused of something (unless someone did behind my back; who knows?), but overall I find it fascinating that those particular events happened after I had that dream.

Miranda Cosgrove vs. the Joker

This dream just might be weirder than my last.  So, I was a man and my daughter had been kidnapped by the Joker.  It was a dark night, and I was running down the street until I reached her school.  The school looked run down and the grass was over-grown.  There was a blinding bright light coming from the school, and I couldn’t see the students faces, only their silhouettes.  I continued to run until I reached the edge of the block, where a car came screeching around the corner.  It was the Joker, who was dangerously riding on the hood.  I ran in the opposite direction, but I tripped on a mattress and landed on the hood of a car.  The Joker pulled out two toy guns and shot me four times.  Since they were just toy guns, I didn’t die, but I pretended to fall so he wouldn’t actually kill me.  Just then, Miranda Cosgrove came down the street on a pink flying carpet, also armed with two toy guns.  (Random fact: I went to elementary school with Miranda)  And just as they were about to have an epic face-off, I woke up.

To analyze this dream, I used a book called the Element Encyclopedia of 20,000 Dreams by Theresa Cheung.  The first thing I wanted to know, is what it means to dream I am a man.  My dream book said that I may have a change in perspective, and its usually a sign of psychological maturity.  (That’s a lot more normal than I thought it would be)  Dreaming about a ruined school can mean the collapse of “youthful illusions” and not to dwell on the past.  I was a little surprised that my dream book didn’t say much about famous people or villains.  Since I specifically remember tripping on a mattress, I thought that may be important.  Mattresses or beds symbolize getting away from the world.

So, this is how I’m going to make sense of all that.  I had this dream pretty recently, and I think it really has to do with my transition into college.  Going into college is a lot like leaving my old world behind, and getting away from the past (mattress/ ruined school).  It’s changing the way I look at things, and I’ve noticed I’m a lot more independent now (man).  I never expected my crazy dreams to make so much sense.  It’s turning out they’re quite insightful in a strange way.

This is a picture I made of Miranda Cosgrove vs. the Joker.  Who would win?

Flying Shrimp!

In this dream, I was with my dad in England and we were going to see a movie about aliens.  The theater had been decorated as if you were going into an actual space ship.  As me, my dad, and a ton of other people piled into the theater, an alarm went off to evacuate the building immediately.  So I grabbed my dad and ran outside.  Just then, a mob of giant flying shrimp descended from the sky and landed around the theater.  (For the record, I don’t like shrimp)  And out of these shrimp space ships came aliens armed with laser guns.  I managed to survive by running away, and then I woke up.

I decided to start off with a strange dream, although most of my dreams are quite bizarre. I found a dream interpretation website online called “Dream Moods” to take a look at this dream.  To start with, I looked up aliens, since that’s what my dream was focused on.  Seeing aliens in a dream suggests that I was having trouble dealing with a person or situation in my life.  Shrimp indicate inferiority and smallness.  Apparently having a gun in a dream can either have something to do with hostility (which makes sense) or penises (which does not).

The way I am going to analyze this is at the time of this dream, I was having problems with my ex boyfriend (aliens/gun).  Maybe the issue at the time was really not a big deal (shrimp).  So overall, I guess that makes sense.  Now, tell me what you think ;)

Here’s a link to the website I used: http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/

Here's a little picture I made just for fun.  It's a cow getting abducted by a flying shrimp space ship; I think it's hilarious.

Welcome

Hello, my name is Nicole Marie Jowett, or Nikki for short.  I am a freshman at Cal State Long Beach majoring in Film, and this blog is a creative English assignment.  Twice a week, I am going to be analyzing dreams- specifically, my dreams.  And let me tell you- I have some pretty strange dreams!  Maybe I’m crazy, or maybe they actually mean something.  Some people believe dreams are simply based on what you were thinking about before you went to bed.  Others think what you dream at night may have some ability to predict the future.  Scientists say its all random neurons firing away in the brain.  I say its our imagination;  the little kid inside trying to escape by telling you crazy stories every night.  Some you remember, others you don’t.  I’m going to give a brief recap of my dream, and analyze it using a variety of sources.  I’ll try to post consistently every Tuesday and Thursday.  I’d like to get a better understanding of my dreams, however crazy some interpretations may be, and hopefully entertain my readers in the process :)
